In a year marked by unprecedented challenges and innovation across education and workforce development, Alexis Richardson has emerged as a national beacon of mentorship excellence. Crowned the 2025 Career Mentor of the Year, Richardson was honored by Clearpath Discovery (CP) for her outstanding work in guiding the next generation of high school students toward meaningful, purpose-driven careers.
With more than five years of experience in volunteering, Alexis Richardson has mentored over 10 high school students across the United States through her involvement in the Dreamchazer Program, a national initiative designed to help young people discover and pursue career paths aligned with their passions and skills.
A Legacy of Leadership and Impact
Richardson’s approach to mentorship is anything but ordinary. Known for her combination of tough love, empathy, and strategic planning, she builds authentic relationships with her mentees—many of whom are first-generation college students or come from underrepresented communities.
“It’s not just about resumes and interviews,” Richardson explains. “It’s about helping young people see themselves beyond their current circumstances and believe in what they’re capable of. My job is to hold up the mirror until they recognize their own potential.”
Students First, Always
Her mentees describe her as “the mentor who never gives up on you.” One former student, Lacey Stevens, now a science major at University of North Texas, credits Alexis for changing her trajectory:
“I was lost, unsure if college or science was even for me. Ms. Richardson didn’t just help me find a path—she guided me on how many options was actually available,” she shared. “She’s the reason I believed I belonged.”
Looking Ahead
As she steps into the next chapter of her journey, Richardson is focusing on medical school as her next step in life. She will continue connecting with mentors throughout the Dreamchazer program. Her hope? To create equitable access to quality career guidance, regardless of zip code.
“This award isn’t just mine, it's for every student who dared to dream bigger, every mentor who showed up, and every organization that made space for real change. The work continues.”
